There are several interesting sites in the Gairloch area that just do not seem to fit the usual criteria.
This could be no more than a simple enclosure built around a jumble of huge rocks for shelter, with a building and lambing pens within the field boundary.
From below, the jumble of huge rocks looks very imposing and the small circle of stones (4m diam) hidden behind it seems to have been constructed more elaborately than is necessary.
The lower structure inside the enclosure is a building (8x6m), with a cavity (4x2.5m) within very thick walls (2m) in places. It has an entrance at its lowest point.
The site also commands an impressive view over the vast, previously inhabited landscape.
